If there's one thing that every hiker dreads when planning a multi-day trail, it's this: figuring out whether there's actually a bed available at the end of the day. It's one of the biggest pain points in the whole process. Hopping between websites, refreshing booking pages, trying to call refugios in a language you barely speak, and still ending up with no clear answer. For trails like the Alta Via 1 or the Tour du Mont Blanc, where mountain huts are in incredibly high demand, this struggle can turn what should be an exciting planning experience into a stressful one.
Well, that changes now.
We're thrilled to announce that the Hike Planner now shows real-time bed availability for mountain huts across some of the most iconic long-distance trails in Europe. This feature is going to make your planning process so much smoother and more enjoyable.

How it works
Once you've picked a trail and are planning your stages in the Hike Planner, just set a date for the stage you're working on. As soon as you do, you'll see coloured badges appear on the accommodations along that stretch of the trail. The colour tells you at a glance what the availability situation looks like, so you don't even need to click anything to get a quick read on how busy things are.
If you want the full picture, just tap on any accommodation on the map and navigate to the "Calendar" view. There you'll see the complete availability calendar, showing you exactly which dates have beds open and which ones are fully booked.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind
This feature covers huts that list their availability online. If a mountain hut only accepts bookings via phone or email, or doesn't have an online booking system at all, we won't be able to show availability data for it. We're working on expanding coverage over time, but for now, some huts along certain stretches may not appear in the live availability view.
Some of the campsites also don't accept reservations, so we won't show any availability information for those either.
